I was born in North America, where the Great Plains rise up to meet the Rocky Mountains.
In the West, where vast expanses of open space, inspiring vistas, huge skies, and crazy weather perform an artistry in such a manner, as to constantly challenge a painter’s vision.
There is much to see. This exercise is eternal and by the grace of god and karma, a gift. So…. I paint. Not exactly what I see…. that is way too much to comprehend, but rather what I feel from the view, from the combined experiences of life, filtered down to the moment and then abstracted with enough representation and formal structure to offer the viewer a launch, a gateway, a portal…. into their own imagination, because …. what one sees in my work is their own imagination.

Metal is my muse, favoring steel, bronze, tin, and aluminum. I use fire to usher in and shape my sculptures, then use patinas and paints to finish them. I am inspired by the human marks, found objects, and colors all around me. I often see the sculptures in my minds's eye before they are created. My favorite is when the metal speaks to me and lets me know where to go next; it evolves before my eyes.
After several decades of making art, incorporating metals, clay and many mixed medias, I am still excited by the possibilities.
